Dr Vicky Simkin is an experienced Clinical Psychologist. This means she has trained to a doctoral level to work with a wide range of mental health issues and complexity. Vicky is proficient in a multiple therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT) and CFT. This means she can tailor her approach to your needs by selecting different techniques that will help you most.

The relationship you form with your therapist is crucial, as you need to feel you can be honest, feel understood, and that won’t be judged. Vicky is committed to creating a relaxed and safe atmosphere for you to freely express yourself and explore the issues bringing you to therapy. Vicky consistently gets feedback that she is warm, compassionate and sensitive. She meets her clients with understanding and empathy.

Vicky understands the importance of attending to your social and cultural context, and how this may influence your wellbeing. She commits to learning and making her clinical practice a safe space for people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, religions and ethnicities. She has lots of experience working in diverse parts of London, and she values the individuality in all her clients.

Training
Vicky completed her undergraduate in Psychology at the University of Bath, where she attained a first-class honours and highest undergraduate attainment. While she was there, she worked as a specialist support worker for looked after children, and at a national specialist service for OCD. She became passionate about improving treatment outcomes for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and published alongside Professor David Veale. You can read her publications and research below.
Vicky went on to study at the University of Surrey where she obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She worked in a wide range of services, including child and adolescent services, autism and ADHD services, psychosis services, and perinatal services. She did her doctoral research looking at how our relationships in early life and childhood trauma can impacts loneliness and mental health across the lifespan.
Since obtaining her doctorate, Vicky has worked in an NHS perinatal team and a specialist service for OCD, Anxiety and BDD. She launched her private practice, and now works across NHS Perinatal services and private services.
